Coughton Court Opens its Doors for a New Season

Coughton Court is the ideal place to celebrate Mother’s Day and Easter suggests Abi Cole.

The National Trust's Coughton Court opens its doors for a fresh new season on Thursday 8 March. 2018 sees us exploring women’s work, duty and political agency during World War One.

Throughout the war years the Coughton community was busy with activity, as women led the effort to support soldiers on the Western Front whilst raising their families and taking on work traditionally carried out by men. A hundred years on from the end of the war, and since partial women’s suffrage was granted, we will be sharing stories of local women from different social classes, asking questions about what women did, the relationship between women’s war work and suffrage, and to what extent the 1918 Act affected women’s power. The new theme will be in place from the Easter weekend.

This year we’ve teamed up with Cadbury’s again for a series of fun events with chocolate treats, take home activities and a trail around the grounds suitable for all. Our Cadbury Easter Hunts will take place from Saturday 31 March to Monday 2 April, 11am- 4pm, and it’s a great opportunity to get all the family together.

Our popular Jigsaw Festival returns from Wednesday 25 to Sunday 29 April, 11am-5pm when hundreds of jigsaws, of all themes and sizes, will be available in a constantly changing display. If you have any puzzles taking up precious space, we’d love to take them off your hands!
