Property Talk

With Andrew Leggett, Director of independent Evesham estate agent Gusterson Palmer & James.

When did you last take a step back and have a long, hard look around you? It’s so easy for us to become complacent and forget how fortunate we are to live in this area - a place renowned for being peaceful and picturesque.

In our free time we can stroll up Broadway Tower with its stunning views, take a cycle through the gorgeous Bredon Hill villages, or visit one of the traditional fetes taking place this summer. In Evesham itself the River Avon is a focal point for many events, with the Riverside Festival an annual highlight.

Only recently Wychavon (made up of Droitwich, Pershore and Evesham) was named as the third best place to live in the UK in the Halifax Quality of Life Survey 2016, beaten only by Winchester and the Orkney Islands. A range of criteria was considered to pin point the best quality of life including life expectancy, health, employment rates, crime, education, broadband access, population densities and the weather.

This is something I’m always mindful of when helping buyers from outside the area who want to relocate here. With so much on offer locally it’s no surprise that so many people are attracted to the mix of green space and good amenities. And those used to living amongst the screech of sirens will often view property from a slightly different angle; even a house situated on a ‘busy’ main road in a market town will seem peaceful to a city dweller.

So it can also be an interesting exercise to take a moment to critique your home afresh, as if you were a potential buyer. With a shortage of homes coming to market some vendors have been thrilled to achieve a swift sale at an excellent price. As Vale of Evesham property experts, the team here can offer free advice and a realistic property appraisal. Please call us on 01386 761241 and choose option 1 or email
